CCTV installation in Side and Manavgat falls into two groups for us: moving hotel cameras in Side, Kumköy, Çolaklı and Titreyengöl from analog to IP, and building new security camera systems for shops and residential sites in central Manavgat. Many hotels along this stretch of coast have grown over the years by adding new blocks. The old block still runs analog cameras on a DVR, the new wing runs IP cameras on an NVR, and security staff watch the two on separate screens. The job we are asked for most often is bringing that split setup together into one system.
Hotel CCTV installation in Side: planning the analog to IP move
An analog to IP camera upgrade does not have to happen in one go. We start with a site survey: which cameras still work, whether the coaxial cables are in good condition and how old the recorders are. Then we agree on an order of work that fits the hotel's season.
- Hybrid phase: working analog cameras are connected to a hybrid recorder for the time being, so they appear in the same interface as the new IP cameras.
- Reusing existing cable: in older blocks where new cabling is hard to run, converters that carry IP over coax are an option. If the cable is worn, pulling new cable is the healthier choice in the long run.
- Timing: noisy work such as cable pulling and replacing cameras in bulk is left for the months when the hotel is closed or occupancy is low.
Old footage needs a plan too. Recordings on the old DVRs should stay accessible until the agreed retention period runs out. We therefore leave the old recorders on the network for viewing only, and once the period ends we decommission them safely, disks included. In the new system we also give cameras consistent names by block, floor and area. Seeing "Block B Ground Floor Restaurant Entrance" instead of "Camera 47" during an incident makes the operator's job noticeably easier.
Architecture for hotels with 100 to 400 cameras
The larger hotels in Side and Kumköy can have several hundred cameras. At that scale we manage multiple NVRs or a VMS (video management software) server from one place. We run a fiber optic backbone between blocks and install a separate PoE switch in each block, so a fault in one block does not stop recording in the others.
For storage we work out camera count, resolution, recording mode and the required retention period together. Motion-based recording and H.265 compression cut disk requirements considerably. Storage is built on RAID, so recording continues if a single disk fails.
The security room sees every camera, while housekeeping supervisors, the food and beverage manager or the technical team see only their own areas. We set user permissions department by department. Near the beach, salty air wears down camera housings and connectors, so in those blocks we use IP66 or IP67 rated outdoor cameras, stainless brackets and sealed junction boxes.
If the hotel also runs IPTV or access control on staff doors, we keep camera traffic on its own VLAN so heavy load on one system does not affect another.
20 to 30 camera systems in central Manavgat
For shops, supermarkets, offices and residential sites in central Manavgat, a simple layout with one NVR and a PoE switch is usually enough. On a residential site the usual points are the entrance gate, car park, children's playground, lift lobbies and the perimeter wall. Site management can review recordings from the office, while residents can view only the shared areas they are allowed to see on their phones. Cabling follows structured cabling practice, and leaving spare ports in the cabinet makes adding cameras later much easier.
Brands and compatibility
We supply and install Hikvision, Dahua, HiLook and Hanwha Wisenet equipment. In older hotels, compatibility with what is already on site also shapes the choice. Some older recorders will not recognise new IP cameras at all, while others can bridge the transition thanks to ONVIF support. We check this device by device during the survey.
KVKK and camera footage
Under KVKK, Turkey's personal data protection law, camera footage counts as personal data. Hotels and residential sites need information signs, a defined retention period and access to recordings limited to authorised people. We set these up together with the property during installation.
Arranging a survey in Manavgat and Side
Our founder has worked in IT since 2006 and spent many years as IT manager at luxury resort hotels, so we know how a hotel with old and new wings is run during the season.
